Submit A Directory
Spotted a holiday rental directory you’d like to share with the community?
Use the form below to submit it for inclusion in the Mental About Rental database.
It’s free to list a directory, but please, be a superstar, and help us speed up the submission process by writing a good description (click link for guide) and by creating the screenshot image (click link for guide) we need for the listing.
If it all sounds like too much hassle, feel free to just submit the URL, but it makes it less likely the directory will feature quickly. Read why here.
Writing a good directory description
Writing a good description of a directory will ensure users of Mental About Rental get a good overview of the directory and what it has to offer. Here’s some of the facts our visitors use to decide where to advertise their rental properties and, if you’re the directory owner, you might consider including in your description:
- How long have you been running?
- Monthly Unique Visitors
- Monthly page impressions
- Where do your website readers come from (list countries or ‘international’)
- Which geographic area does your property focus on (region(s) / countr(ies) / international)
- Do you focus on a specific type of property?
- How many properties are listed on your website?
- What do you charge for listing single / multiple properties?
- Do you allow linking to property website?
- Do you insist on reciprocal linking?
- Do you allow photos and if so, how many?
- What reporting do you provide (page views etc)?
Don’t feel the need to limit the information you limit to this, and equally, if you don’t own the directory you’re submitting, don’t worry about missing information. Hopefully the directory owner will stumble upon us at some point!
Please don’t include information such as Directory Name and URL here, instead use the other fields provided on the submission form.
How to make a screengrab image and thoroughly ingratiate yourself with Mental About Rental
- Visit the homepage of the holiday rental directory you want to add to the database
- Hit “print screen” button on your PC keyboard (usually near the top right of the keyboard, you won’t notice anything actually happen when you hit it, Windows simply adds the screengrab to your clipboard)
- Open an image editor such as the wonderfully free ‘Paint.net’ or ‘Gimp’ (both downloadable from http://www.download.com and paste (CTRL + V) the screengrab into a new image
- Crop the image to get rid of the ugly browser bits
- Re-size the image to the following dimensions: width 490px x height 300px
- File > Save As > directoryname-image.jpg (select jpeg from the drop down list of file type options, and replace ‘directoryname’ with the name of the actual directory without any spaces or hypens)
- Set quality so that file size is less than 100k and save it to your desktop
- If you don’t have the software, use free online tools such as Super Screen Shot to take the screenshot, and Online Picture Resizer to resize the image.
- Submit the image directly to me using the form provided
May lorry-loads of karma be bestowed upon you for your help in this matter.
